Mistakes Need To Be Avoided By Recruiters While Choosing Candidates

Recruiting is an art. You’re acting as a PR, screening candidates, filtering resumes and yes, of course scheduling interviews. It’s no wonder that recruitment has become a complex job nowadays. With the introduction of the new technology though it has become quite easy to find a right candidate for a specific job profile, but a single mistake may lose a task out of hand.

Still, it is important to avoid the minor mistakes that can actually create major pitfalls for one’s company. Hence, here are some main errors that a recruiter can take care of while looking for candidates.

● Judging candidates on the basis of their resumes

We are all aware of the fact that a resume cannot give a proper insight of a person’s talents and skills. So, while lining up the candidates for a job, every recruiter should personally talk to them to assess their key abilities for the profile, instead of just rejecting them on the basis of their CVs and resumes.

● Irrelevant job description

When the description given about the job is improper and not according to client’s preferences, many job seekers ignore a career opportunity. Thus, it is important for HR managers to make proper and complete job description of a job profile for the applicants, giving them a clear-cut opportunity to apply for it.

● Relying on old recruitment methods

Some human resource professionals still evaluate applicant’s skills by following old recruitment methods like their resumes and job profiles, instead recruiters should contact candidates to assess their potential for the job.

The 5 Creative Strategies To Make Your Tech Talent Hiring More Successful

Connecting with top tech talent is getting harder day by day. Companies are now fiercely competing with each other to attract talented candidates. The main problem is that the traditional recruiting channels are overcrowded. If you want to get your hands on better candidates, you need to look in places where no other recruiters are looking and you will have to do things differently to avoid sifting through a huge stack of poor-fit resumes. Apart from this, It’s also essential to increasing your overall candidate quality by optimizing your recruiting efforts through screening the best ones. Here are 5 recruitment tactics that can make your business stand out from the crowd and put you in touch with your ideal hires.

1.Utilize Apps to Find New Talent: Internet is full of sites to help you find top tech talent. With a little research, best resources are at your fingerprints. You have to be creative to find top tier on more focused sites like Linked in, Toptal and Hacker Rank . If you try new pathways and start taking matters into your own hands by becoming an invested community developer, you will soon have more tech geniuses on your doorstep.

2.Streamline Your IT Recruitment Process : The competition of hiring top technical employees is very high. Mainly screening process is the longest recruiting stage that includes the various steps like looking through resumes, conducting phone or on site interviews and making decisions. The top candidates do not want to go through a long hiring process. So, if your recruiting process is puffed up with too many steps before making an offer then unify it to find right candidate otherwise your candidate may have already moved on.

3.Don't Miss a Single Valuable Candidate: If recruiter have any anticipation that a candidate can perform well in role, it’s worth checking out. Find a way to do it intelligently, and not waste too much of your employee's time. Because the war of a technical talent is real and there is shortage of expert programmers on the market. Thus missing a single valuable candidate is not a right decision.

4.Use Coding Tests to Check Ability of an Applicant: The companies prefer to test all of their applicants with online coding tests. It's a fast and effective way of screening for technical skills. By using this testing method, you can identify the best talent that would miss otherwise. The coding test allow you to not only test the programming language knowledge, but also a candidate's knowledge of frameworks and libraries that you use. In fact ,knowledge of tools, libraries and frameworks is much more valuable than knowledge of programming language itself.

5.Evaluate Candidate's familiarity with design patterns using Code review Challenges: Coding tests also include tasks with code review challenges. This is use to check programming skills of applicant in working with the team. Code review tests give very accurate results about a developer's experience, their approach to code quality, and efficiency of debugging and finding traps. Code review challenges should be forced when recruiting senior developers. A good way is to challenge a programmer's skills with tests based on your company's code base. Only then will you see if there is a fit between the company's needs and the developer's skills.
